@SeventhPlumbob The new Seasons settings that work on a per-save basis are actually the first of that type in the game; we created new tech to support it, which came after the new population controls were implemented. I love the flexibility it provides for certain options - perhaps it's something we can do for more options in the future. It's great to hear feedback on that type of stuff.
We're building unique festivals for every official world that's released so far from various expansions or The Sims 3 Store. If you start a new game in a world, the festival lot for that world will already be in place - typically it'll replace the main park in the world. If you're loading a previously created save game after installing Seasons, you'll be asked if you'd like to add the festival to your world, and it will show you exactly which lot it intends to replace. You'll also have the option to manually place it somewhere else if you prefer. For all of the worlds, both the festival lot, and the lot it's replacing will be in the community lot bin in Edit Town so that you can swap them out at any later point if you choose as well, or you can add one of them to a custom world (where they won't auto place). For people who enjoy building custom worlds, they're certainly able to create their own festival lots that will switch throughout the various seasons as users play in their worlds. All of the functionality of the lot changing its appearance throughout the world is controlled by a Seasonal Lot Marker object that's available in buydebug. This marker will allow you to change what objects appear on a lot in any season; but it does not allow you to update things on lots that are controlled by build mode tools, such as walls or terrain height. You'll even be able to use the Seasonal Lot Marker to update other community or residential lots to change throughout the year if you'd like!
The Seasonal Lot Marker opens up a lot of cool possibilities for advanced builders who want their lots to change throughout the year; I'm excited to see what the community does with it
To create a festival lot, you'd set the lot type to Festival Grounds from Edit Town mode, and the Seasonal Lot Marker would automatically be placed on the lot.
Another fun tidbit - the seasonal lot marker will allow you to assign a unique name to community lots for each season as well.
7 days by default. You're allowed to adjust that to as few as 3 days, or as long as 28 days. RT @OnlyBecca How many days will a season last?
The ice cream truck actually won't appear in the winter! And for anyone who missed it - I mentioned yesterday that we've updated the ice cream truck to no longer appear at 3am either
@CAW_Wiki Yup, go for a dip in the Nile if you want As you aptly pointed out, that island in France could always be accessed by zeneport anyway. RT @CAW_Wiki @SimGuruGraham Will water be swimmable in WA worlds? I'm hoping so in that they'd gain some value for vacations.
Kids still attend school year round (I know all too well the drudgery of summer school), but they will get a reprieve if a snow storm rolls through town and gets school cancelled for a snow day!
Appropriate looking clothing from base game, expansions, stuff packs, and the store will be updated to be selectable as outerwear to keep your Sims warm, yes.
No natural disasters like tornados or hurricanes, that level of complete destruction isn't really in the spirit of The Sims. What you will get though are really powerful thunderstorms and blizzards in winter.
