I'm glad I'm already speaking english too. I can't imagine having to learn english from scratch... there are so many phrases that one just can't expect people to learn... "from scratch" is an example... and "raining cats and dogs" - although english verb construction is much much easier...

Mein Englisch ist nicht das Beste! Fehler also bitte überlesen.
I have a homework.... I must translate a text. I have now translate it, but i don't think that i have right translate!
Here the German text.
Liebe Lynn, lieber Bruce,
......
>>>>>>>>> Daraus habe ich folgendes gemacht....
Dear Lynn and Bruce,
Thanks for youre letter and youre nice invitation. Daniel was so lucky, as i schowned him the letter and he know to came too Issaquah. The sommerholiday begann at the and of Juli. Maybe we get a fly of beginn of August. It's really nice that Daniel now will know him american relatives. For Daniel is ist a little bit strange, that he have relatives he doesn't know. Daniel is Englsich learning three years at school, but it was anytime his favourite lesson. I hope that will change now.
Ich weiß es muss schlimm aus sehen. Bloß Englisch ist nicht mein Ding...

Oh, the words are not the worst. I always despair of the sentence constructions. It's the same the other way round, just look at the SimsZone in Babelfishs' english
Use dict.leo.orgOriginal geschrieben von WTH
i use babel.altavista.com - but it doesnt always give the right german word![]()

Hey WTH!
Welcome here in this Forum (?)...
Once my teacher told us, that the people in England have a bath every morning ...Is that right?
If it's right, I don't want to know how much money they must pay for the water...*lol*

I always wanted to know if you say in correct English: I'm a fan of the Beatles, or, I'm a fan from the Beatles?![]()

We have a book like that and my dad calles it a "webster" (but I'm not sure if that's the name for it or only the name for the company which sells these books).

"I have now translate it, but i don't think that i have right translate!"
"I have now translate it" - the past tense is "I have translated it now, but I don't think I have translated it right"
OK, i've noticed your use of "youre" for "eure"
eure, deine, usw. are called "possessive" - the possessive in english is your... you're is an abbreviated version of "you are"
so "Thanks for youre letter and youre nice invitation" would really mean "Thanks for youre letter and you are nice invitation
Dear Lynn and Bruce,
Thanks for your letter and your nice invitation. Daniel was really happy when I showed him the letter. He would love to come to Issaquah. The summer holidays begin at the end of July. Maybe we could book a flight for the beginning of August. It's really nice that Daniel can visit his american relatives. For Daniel it's a little bit strange, that he has cousins whom he doesn't know. Daniel has been learning English at school for three years. English, actually never was his favourite lesson, but hopefully that will change soon.
hope that helps

Hey Sim_IQ!
Your english was almost perfect! well done
the only error i could pick up on was "tell me if I did some mistakes" - it should be "tell me if I've made some mistakes"
I've not read those books... but if you want to read a funny english book, I think maybe Bridget Jones' Diary.
